Today i am going to talk about the best remedies for treating and getting immediate relief from vaginal yeast infections. HOME MYTHS AND SCIENTIFIC TREATMENTS: So i'm going to start with getting immediate relief, ways to get immediate relief, I'm going to talk about some of the home myths related to treating vaginal yeast infection, and then i'm going to talk about the most effective scientifically based, treatments, over the counter that you can access at home for treating this condition and actually treating it for good.
what is yeast:
Now, Yeast as a single cell organism and what it does is it exists in the body, it exists on the skin, it can also exist in the bowel, and in the vagina of some women and that's actually quite normal, and it often causes no symptoms.
But it's when the yeast overgrowth and the system becomes out of balance that the use then can overgrow and it can cause those symptoms like the redness, the itching, the burning, the pain, all those types of symptoms that we associate with thrush or vaginal yeast infection. And also it's important to note that with those symptoms, or white discharge is not necessarily a symptom of a vaginal yeast infection.
IMMEDIATE RELIEF: Now, to immediate relief.I really hope these help you. SCIENTIFIC MEDICATION: 1:The first immediate relief technique that you can use is get Zyrtec. Zyrtec is an antihistamine, and the antihistamine can actually give you immediate relief from the itching it's taken orally as a tablet. This is a really great way of getting some immediate relief for those that awful itching sensation that can then make you want to scratch and make the problem actually much worse by irritating the tissues.
2:Now the second lesser known way of getting relief is through a Hydrocortisone cream. This is a DERM aid. This can be used only externally on the Vulva. And what this hydrocortisone treatment does when just used for short term? Is it can relieve swelling, redness, and itching. So these are both over the counter medications and they're both readily available to give you immediate relief from those symptoms while you're waiting for the other medic antifungal medications to take effect. HOME TREATMENTS: Now, let's talk a little bit about some of the home treatments and the home treatment myths. SUGAR DIET: The first one I'd like to talk about is sugar and the Candida diet. Now, when you eat sugar, that sugar doesn't go into the vagina. The only way that sugar can affect the vagina is actually through high sugar in the urine and that happens when with diabetes, particularly type two diabetes, or with kidney failure. So this doesn't happen as part of the diet. And so, this is why the Candida diet is not scientifically based and it won't cure Candida. GARLIC: The second home remedy I'd like to talk about is garlic. Now, I've heard about the theories about and women telling me about having used crushed garlic or sliced garlic and inserting it vaginally. what this does is burns the tissues, it's not an effective treatment and it's actually really quite dangerous and potentially damaging and irritating even if it's wrapped up.
TEA TREE OIL: The third home remedy that sometimes used is tea tree oil.Now again, tea tree oil shouldn't be used inside the vagina, it can cause an allergic reaction for one, and it can also cause vaginal irritation. Those tissues are really delicate, and they don't need strong plant based medications like tea tree oil on them.
It will just cause further damage.
YOGURT: last home remedy that I'd like to talk about is Yogurt.some women find that Yogurt is soothing, and that's understandable, but it won't fix the problem. The Yogurt actually has a different type of bacteria and remember that you're inserting a new type of bacteria into the vagina when you actually use Yogurt. So you don't know what sort of effect that's going to have. But it doesn't have the bacteria that are needed for the healthy vagina, and it's not going to fix the problem. So while it might be soothing, it's not going to fix and work with an antifungal ACTUAL TREATMENTS THAT WORK: So, now let's talk about the actual treatments that really do work and these are twofold.
You can either use oral tablet form and cream or pessary form. Both are equally effective. And let's go through both of them in turn.
I'm going to talk a little bit about the advantages and disadvantages of both and these are both the treatments that are used that kill will 90% of women have the Candida Albicans Yeast. So that's the most common, and these are over the counter medications that will actually the antifungal medications that will actually kill that Yeast.
So, let's start first of all with the cream. So, the cream is these are called the Azoles, that will be Azoles, A-Z-O-L-E-S.So the cream is a canister and cream. And the cream actually is applied usually using an applicator and inserted vaginally. It comes normally as a one day, three-day, or a seven-day treatment, and, what it does is, it actually can actually provide a lot of soothing for some women. Some women find it messy however, and they so that's why it's best to use it at night,or it also comes in like a pessary form that can also be inserted hide the vagina to that isn't quite as messy. However, some women do find that they get a burning associated with this and so equally as effective is the oral medication.
Now Floconazole or die Flocon.
this again comes with a single tablet form and the single tablets used for mild to moderate severity, thrush or vaginal yeast infection. Now, once again, there's advantages or disadvantages to this medication. The advantage is that it doesn't actually cause them the messiness that we've already talked about with the cream, and also to you're not going to get that burning sensation. However, for some women, it can cause nausea, and also to interact with other medications and can have effects on other systems in the body.
So this is a medication that you want to discuss with your pharmacist or your doctor before taking. So both those the oral medication or the cranes are equally as effective.
You usually notice that symptoms start to ease within three days of starting the medication, and then it normally takes a good seven days to resolve.
what to do, if it doesn't resolve?
First thing to do is go to your doctor, it may well be that you're not treating yeast infection at all, it might be something completely different. And what your doctor will do was take a swab of just some of the internal fluid in a sample inside your vagina and that will be sent to the lab and cultured, and they will look at what type of yeast is actually growing there if it is a yeast, or determine what the actual problem is.
Remembering that also to some of the other causes of vaginal yeast infections and some of the reasons that we get recurrent into vaginal infections due to other factors such as low iron, decreased immunity, cigarette smoking, cannabis, tart wearing tight latex
underwear, that's not a latex, gay that's not breathable, panty liners, all those sorts of things and even Candida can even adhere to IUDs or some intrauterine contraceptive devices. So it's really important that you speak to your doctor if you're not getting resolution with your over the counter medications.
FINAL WORDS: We've talked about, first of all, we talked about what the yeast is, a single cell microorganism that exists on the body on the skin, we talked about the ways to get immediate relief, and we talked about the antihistamine and we talked about the hydrocortisone cream just to be used outside and just for short term, we talked about some of the myths, the home myths that your best to avoid, and then the best way to get relief, and to treat the the vaginal yeast infection for good through over the counter remedies. So, I really hope this information helps you remedy your vaginal yeast infection.
